USEFUL INFORMATION...

The following information will be useful to parents who have a child starting at The School on the Green...

WHAT TO BRING
On your child's first day please bring a bag containing a spare set of clothes and a pair of wellington boots, ensuring that all items are clearly labelled. Please remember to provide appropriate clothing for outdoor play - hats, scarves & gloves for winter, sun cream and hats for summer.
MEALS
The nursery provides a morning snack of fruit, with a choice of milk or water.
If you would like your child to stay during the lunch period (12 - 1 pm) please provide them with a packed lunch, which should not include sweets. Please ensure packed lunches are in a leak proof container, clearly marked with your child's name.
GOVERNMENT GRANTS
The nursery is OFSTED regulated. This means that your child is entitled to a government grant towards the fees, once they are three years old. This funding currently covers up to five sessions a week.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
The nursery has a wide range of written policies and procedures covering subjects such as equal opportunities, special needs and child protection. These are available on request.
SICKNESS
If your child is ill and will not be attending nursery, please inform the manager as soon as possible that morning. You will appreciate that the school cannot accept children that are ill at any time.
SECURITY
The nursery is set back from the main road in its own grounds which are secured by a perimeter fence. There are two gates to this area and both are kept closed at all times. A member of staff checks that these gates are closed before outdoor play.

The School on the Green was inspected by OFSTED in June 2004 and we were delighted to be awarded a Good, which is the highest rating available.

The full report is downloadable from the OFSTED web site, but some of the comments were, "Good behaviour is valued and staff are good role models", and "Staff are attentive to (children's) needs, respond to their interests and praise and encourage them."
