OUR NURSERY... |

The Nursery shares the Penn Street Cricket Pavilion with the local Hit or Miss Cricket team, who usually need it for summer weekend matches. The building consists of a reception area, with cloakroom, a main classroom where the children spend the majority of their time and a quiet room where the children can read or rest apart from the main group. The quiet room is also used for group reading.

| We have a quiet garden area, with climbing frame and slides, and the cricket field, which we use for outdoor play, for nature walks and for our Sports Day in the Summer Term. We also use a small area of the garden for growing plants – sunflowers seem to be the most popular!

Our Topic Table is a constantly changing display, which provides a point of focus for our teaching. One week it may cover Spring or Christmas, another it may cover colours or shapes - so if you are asked for something for the 'Red Table', you’ll know what your child means.

Festivals from a wide range of cultures and religions are celebrated at the nursery and we use the topic table to highlight these events.The nursery has a wide range of books, puzzles and learning resources. All our equipment is designed to provide stimulating play for the children, to help them learn while having fun. We have a computer for the children's use, where they learn to use a mouse and complete a wide range of fun educational activities.
All our staff are highly experienced and appropriately qualified. |

The School on the Green was inspected by OFSTED in June 2004 and we were delighted to be awarded a Good, which is the highest rating available.
The full report is downloadable from the OFSTED web site, but some of the comments were, "Good behaviour is valued and staff are good role models", and "Staff are attentive to (children's) needs, respond to their interests and praise and encourage them."
